Deck Leads Wrestlers at GMC Tournament

On Saturday February 16th, your Big Blue Varsity Wrestling team traveled to Oak Hills High School for the Greater Miami Conference Tournament. The Big Blue continued to show improvement and had their best GMC performance in three seasons placing 8th place out of 10 teams, and placing two wrestlers. Leading the way for the Big Blue was senior Dylan Deck who finished as runner-up in the 152lb weight class. Deck is the team captain and has shown tremendous poise on the mat over the duration of the season, placing in every tournament except the coaches classic. Deck is expected to wrestle at 145lbs next weekend at the sectional tournament. Dilyn Boyle also had a strong showing the the GMC tournament finishing the with a 3 and 1 record on the day coming back to take 3rd place at the 160lb weight class. Boyle had bonus point victories in all of his victories on the day. Dilyn lost to the Mason foe in the quarterfinals of the championship round and avenged his loss by pinning him in the consolation finals for 3rd place.

The varsity wrestling team is next in action this weekend, February 22 and 23, at Hamilton High School where they will compete at the sectional tournament which is the first qualifier for the state wrestling tournament. Come out and support your varsity wrestling team.
