The Cross Country Team represented at the ‘Saturday Night Lights Invitational at Centerville High School on Saturday. Despite the final team outcomes, we had many personal accomplishments. Heading in the right direction, we had almost every single runner post a personal best time – having a drastic improvement from their previous races!
From the Boys: Sophomore Austin Ryan took 90th and Junior Zack Owen took 153 out of 266 runners- improving his time by 30 seconds! This race was considered to be one of the three fastest races in the state at that given time. Sophomore Owen Bullard, Michael McFarland, and Shazier Fierson all crossed the line together. The boys did a great job on staying together with their teammates and pushing through the large competitive pack of runners.
From the Girls Varsity: Sophomore Meghan Garry and Taniah Richards ran in an extremely large field hosting more than 500 runners. Despite getting a slow start and getting boxed in their mile – the girls made up for during their seconds and third mile to move strongly through the thick pack.
We will be back in action on Saturday in Fairmont for the Neil Charske Firebird Invitational.
